🌿 What This Class Offers

Each week we explore a different subject connected to tea ceremony and Japanese culture.
The intention is to strengthen the backbone of understanding that supports practical study.

Topics may include:

  • Historical background and lineage

  • Seasonal customs and symbolism

  • Ceramics, lacquerware, and metalwork appreciation

  • Tea rooms, architecture, and gardens

  • Differences between schools and service styles

  • Cultural parallels and influences

  • Arts and crafts surrounding tea practice

This is a space for context, nuance, and discernment — the quieter layers of knowledge that are often learned slowly over time.

⚠️ What This Class Is Not

This class does not teach the physical choreography or hand sequences of performing a tea ceremony.

Students wishing to learn how to conduct a service can do so through the structured online courses and guided group classes available within the Academy.
This live class exists to complement that practical training with cultural and historical understanding.

💻 How the Sessions Work

Each meeting lasts approximately 60 minutes and takes place live inside the Academy platform (Kajabi).

  • 30–40 min — focused topic exploration

  • 10–15 min — selected questions & discussion

  • Final minutes — announcements and upcoming themes

Participants are welcome to ask questions live or submit them beforehand.
Relevant questions are woven into the session.

As part of participation, students also receive direct access to the teacher for inquiries related to the class material.

  • Every class is recorded.

  • Active subscribers receive access to the full archive of past sessions.

  • Access continues for as long as the subscription remains active.

  • When a subscription ends, archive access is released.

This allows students to begin at any point without falling behind and to revisit subjects at their own rhythm.

This class does not provide certificates or diplomas.
It is designed as an ongoing study space rather than a graded curriculum.

Short-span courses with examinations and certification may be introduced separately in the future.
